21 Days Clean Program Diary

If your here for the $40 OFF codekeep scrolling!! Continue below for my 21 Days Clean Program Diary…

I love a good challenge, especially when the results directly affect my health and happiness. I’m hoping my 21 days Clean program diary will help you accept the challenge too.

I’m the kinda girl that’s always testing new diets and cleanses. When I heard about the success a friend of mine had with the Clean Program, I knew I had to try it.

The Clean Program was developed by cardiologist and cleanse specialist, Dr. Alejandro Junger. It’s a pretty simple plan, two shakes a day with the Clean protein provided and a dinner of “Clean” veggies and lean protein. Clean also provides potent supplements and a probiotic that you take daily.

I’ve removed common food allergens such as dairy, gluten, caffeine, alcohol and of course everyone’s favorite…processed sugar. I have never done a cleanse for this long, except that one attempt at Whole30…more like Whole5:) Thankfully, Clean program gives you a great support packet of approved recipes and even a wellness coach to help you through the rough times. My 21 days clean program diary is as follows:

Day 1: I have to admit, I didn’t start strong. I was having major cramps because my aunt Flo was in town, so Midol saved the day. Apparently, there is quite a bit of caffeine in Midol but anything to stop the hurt. This was a pretty easy day otherwise. I got the combo of chocolate and vanilla flavored protein and both are very good. Dinner was roasted sweet potato, avocado with Himalayan sea salt and pepper flakes.

Day 2: Woke up feeling tired. I usually drink a lot of caffeine so I think this was the start of withdrawal. I love the vanilla flavor protein and mixed in some frozen cherries, a date, vanilla extract and spinach. Cherry vanilla goodness (recipe below) Also, for dinner I made a Whole30 recipe that is worth its weight in gold…Chicken chowder (use chicken breasts though)

Day 3: Woke up feeling BLAH! Moody, tired and I had a headache. I felt my body releasing the toxins. I had a sore throat and a runny nose. I decided to check out the support community that the Clean program provides people who are on the cleanse. I found a few others who had had the same symptoms as I did and encouraged me to push through it. I guess it’s pretty normal to have these types of symptoms. Either way, it sucked! I was lucky enough to get a nap in, which helped.

Day 4: I broke down and had some caffeine. I had to if I was going to survive two kids and the amount of chores I’d put off the day before. It barely helped me get everything done and I still felt tired, cranky and sick. I even started feeling stiff in my neck. Now I understand why they suggest taking yoga classes and getting massages during the cleanse. They know what’s up!

Day 5: I’ve been feeling slight hunger through the day. The Clean program suggests to determine if it’s true hunger before you start snacking. On a normal day, I easily pound handfuls of kid snacks and taste while I cooking (or spreading peanut butter) dinner for my family. Boredom is usually the culprit! Once I determined that it was true hunger, I choose Clean approved snacks like mint flavored water and raw pistachios. My energy level is up and the cranky feeling is gone. It twas a good day.

Day 6: First day I felt enough energy to hit the gym…is that sad?!? My body feels good, all the weird symptoms are gone and my 21 days clean goal is driving me. I had a tropical smoothie for breakfast, an RX bar before the gym, a smoothie a few hours after the gym and a Clean dinner. I’m not sure I could survive this cleanse without sweet potatos, they are filling and mmm mmm good. I’m a little nervous for tomorrow as I’m working on set. I’ll be around delicious catering and a snack bar that has everything I can’t shouldn’t eat:) Wish me luck!!!

Day 7: I made it through the whole shoot without a cheat sneak. I even stole a chocolate covered cinnamon bear for an after cleanse dessert (shhh:) Thankfully they had “clean food” like a salad bar and organic chicken. The best part about this program is you get to eat as much as you want for your one “clean meal” a day. Almond butter, a few dates and sweet potatos are saving me!

Day 8: It’s getting easier, eating less. I feel my body going through more cleansing. I’ve had a slight headache all day and feeling less energy.

Day 9 – Day 18: I fast forward here because it’s all pretty much the same: I honestly feel amazing. My body has definitely lost inches, which is such a very rewarding attribute. As a mom of two, my body has held on to the few extra pounds around my belly, love handles and thighs. I’ve tried really hard to rid my body of those stubborn areas through exercise and diet in the past but I’ve NEVER seen results like these. I barley exercised actually. I’m a true believer that diet is everything now!

Day 19: Did I mention my love handles are totally gone?!? I’ve decided that it’s the lack of sugar and processed foods that has helped rid my body of those extra mom pounds. I do have to say that I miss eating a big, juicy cheeseburger with extra pickles. Preferably from In-and-Out! I’m also looking forward to having yogurt back in my life.

Day 20-21: This might sound crazy but I only lost three pounds. If you’re looking to do this cleanse for weight loss (and be hangry), maybe try the Master cleanse…BUT if you want to loss inches in stubborn areas and feel lighter, this is the cleanse for you. Sure, I’m excited to eat normal food again but I’m more aware of how those foods will affect my body. New perspectives!

Self control. Just because I have an urge to eat something doesn’t mean I’m really hungry. Shakes can be simple, delicious and filling. Self discipline. The number on the scale shouldn’t warrant how I look or feel.
